Patricia Williamson Piano Studio, Nederland, TX
Williamson Piano Studio Policy Letter

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.

Please read all information carefully. You may copy this. I will keep the original in your child’s file. You only need to sign one form for all of the students in your family.

  1. Tuition for weekly 30-minute lessons for the 2006/2007 school year is $17 per lesson payable by the month. This cost covers basic supplies and the first method book. Statements can be mailed prior to the due date. Please pay by check, as no receipt will be given unless asked. There is a $12 per month discount for additional students in one family.
  2. In some months a student may have 5 lessons, for which there will be no extra charge, and other months may have fewer due to school holidays, etc. However, the monthly tuition remains the same.
  3. Student lesson schedule generally follows the Nederland ISD school schedule, including breaks and holidays. There will be no lessons during those days unless asked for. I am usually happy to teach an extra lesson during these breaks, but it is up to students/parents to request it. We will have lessons on faculty work days (see calendar), even if students do not have school. Summer lessons will continue as normal.
  4. There are no deductions or refunds for missed lessons except for protracted/long-term illness. I will try to schedule a "make-up" lesson for students who notify me in advance that they will not be attending their lesson if there are extenuating circumstances (illness or an occasional scheduling conflict) for the missed lesson.
  5. We will hold an annual studio recital at the end of the school year, for which there is no extra charge. All students will participate, and all relatives and friends are invited to attend.
  6. Parents are welcome to observe a student’s lesson at any time. Siblings, etc. are also welcome, but please bring homework or other activities to keep them occupied.
  7. There will be several piano contests held throughout the year. Student participation is encouraged, and a small entrance fee will be included in your tuition for that month if your child participates. These contests are held in a positive, friendly environment, designed to benefit your child’s education.
  8. Students, at the beginning of each lesson, please go to the restroom and wash your hands to help prevent the spreading of germs, and for the protection of my piano. The front restroom is always available to anyone who needs it during lesson times; however for obvious reasons, areas of the house other than the music room and restroom are off-limits.
  9. Students must bring all of their books to every lesson. Students arriving without music will be given theory worksheets or sight-reading. No exceptions to this, and no make-ups given for failure to bring your music. That is each student’s responsibility.
  10. Students, please keep your fingernails short.
  11. No drinks, food, or chewing gum will be allowed in the house/studio.
  12. Parents, please insist that your child practice his/her assignments daily. My goal is for every student to thoroughly enjoy sitting and playing at the piano. A student will not enjoy it if he/she is not gaining something on a weekly basis. The only way to really grow and learn is through steady practice.

I greatly look forward to teaching your child. Again, please feel free to call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Patty Williamson
